Implementation Methology

Based on the existing research, the incorporation of dry oregano drug in tomato cultivation shows a fungicidal effect against adromycoses, increases the production and improves the quality of the fruits (postdoctoral AGROETAK 3313/91, Kadoglidou et al., 2020).
Progress
30%

Given the above, this project will investigate the utilization of unmarketable oregano of the 3rd grade and its effect on a pilot plant (tomato/eggplant/onion), for the control/counteraction of adromicosis. The following procedure will be followed: 1) mapping of problematic/abdominal infected fields/greenhouses of cooperating agencies for the selection of pilot fields, through plant and/or soil sampling, isolations and identifications of pathogens, 2) incorporation into the rhizosphere of the pilot fields of drug doses oregano of the 3rd selection, before the transplanting of healthy seedlings in outdoor/or under cover cultivation in producer conditions, 3) assessment of indicators of the disease, productivity and quality of the plant capital.

At the same time, optimization of the innovative protocol will be carried out at the IGB&FP facilities, with the aim of streamlining and finding the optimal integration dose. Actions to disseminate the results will be carried out according to the progress of the project. The ultimate goal of the proposed action is, through the exploitation of an oregano screening product, the creation of a new “tool” for the control of fungal diseases in vegetable crops, where the fight against pathogens is particularly expensive and often unfeasible, while moving in the context of the circular economy but and the adoption of good agricultural practices.
